Nintendo has added the The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword soundtrack to its Nintendo Music app. In order to access it, you’ll need to have an active Nintendo Switch Online .

There are 186 tracks in total. Listening to them all will take almost 5 hours and 30 minutes. Nintendo has already prepared some playlists for you if you don’t want to look for a specific track. The playlists include ones for battle, dungeons, and the overworld, as well as one that has extended versions of all the music. Top tracks from The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword you can listen to on Nintendo Music include: “The Ballad of the Goddess,” “Fi’s Theme,” and “Islands in the Sky.”

Nintendo Music is a music app that Nintendo released in late October 2024. As one might imagine from the name, this is a music app that lets you listen to the soundtracks from Nintendo games. You can make your own playlist, as well as extend any tracks you want. Updates like the Skyward Sword one usually add new tracks and games. For example, Nintendo added the Splatoon 2 soundtrack back in early December 2024.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword came out on the Nintendo Wii in 2011. You can listen to its soundtrack on Nintendo Music.

Good Smile Company announced it will rerelease both its The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword figure and figma. Both will reappear in 2022. The figma will show up again first, as it will appear in Japan in July 2022 and in North America in September 2022. legend of zelda skyward sword hd quality of life

There’s a new The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD trailer out, and it looks at all of the quality of life changes in the remaster. For example, people might find Fi a little less insistant, and you also will be able to skip through cutscenes. This is in addition to already confirmed things, like the Zelda & Loftwing amiibo letting people fast travel.

The video goes over each new element in time. Things begin with Fi’s assistance being optional. You can then choose if you want advice and hints. There are new control scheme options, for people who prefer motion controls or button-only ones. There is a higher frame rate. You can fast forward through dialogue. Cutscenes can be skipped. You also won’t always be told what every item does.

Here’s the full The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD quality of life trailer. It rather swiftly summarizes things over the course of a minute and a half.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD will come to the Nintendo Switch on July 16, 2021. A Zelda & Loftwing amiibo and set of Joy-cons will also be available. The original The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword appeared on the Wii, and people could purchase it digitally on the Wii U.

Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword HD

Nintendo has released a new trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD detailing the game experience for new and returning players. The new overview trailer appeared on Nintendo's official Youtube channel and details the game's premise and narrative. It also showed some of the changes made to adapt the game's mechanics to its new home on the Nintendo Switch.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EAPldVCRo-g

The trailer introduces Link and Zelda's home island of Skyloft and the incident that sends Zelda plummeting beneath the clouds. This initiates the core quest of Skyward Sword HD. Link must travel the world, exploring lands above and below clouds in search of clues as to Zelda's whereabouts. The trailer also shows off the various updated, HD rendered areas of the game. Various gadgets, like Link's beetle, whip, and bow and arrow were all showcased. In contrast with 2017's The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the WildSkyward Sword falls more in line with earlier Zelda series games.

Some aspects from the original game have remained in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD, though. These include the Wii edition's use of motion controls. As famously demonstrated during Nintendo's stage presentation at E3 2010, the game used the Wii remote and Nunchuck controller to control the facing and direction of Link's attacks using his sword and shield. These functions are replicated using the Nintendo Switch's Joy-con controllers. Traditional button-based controls have been added to allow players to use a standard controller. This also makes Skyward Sword HD compatible with the Nintendo Switch Lite and in handheld mode on the standard Switch.

The trailer also highlighted compatibility with the Zelda & Loftwing amiibo figure. The amiibo unlocks a "fast travel" option of sorts, teleporting Link into the sky and then back down to the ground  with each use.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD will release for the Nintendo Switch on July 16, 2021. The amiibo, as well as a custom set of Joy-cons, will release on the same day.

Skyward Sword HD Switch

The first Legend of Zelda game for the Wii, Twilight Princess, received a remaster for the Wii U, but the second game, Skyward Sword, has been nearly forgotten about since it was released on the Wii in 2011. Eoji Aonuma announced today at the Nintendo Direct that Skyward Sword HD will be coming to the Switch on July 16, 2021.

Since the game originally released on the Wii, Skyward Sword primarily used motion controls for Link's sword-swinging, shield bearing, and other item using. Nintendo will keep these motion controls in tact with the Switch Joy Cons. However, if motion controls were the reason why you never picked up Skyward Sword in the first place, or motion controls simply aren't your thing, Skyward Sword HD will also have a button-only option for controls.

Along with its release, Nintendo will also release Skyward Sword-themed Joy-Cons, that are simply gorgeous.

Skyward Sword HD Switch Joy Cons

Both the game and the Joy-Cons will be available on July 16, 2021.

There's no better time to jump into Skyward Sword than when it re-releases on Switch. Especially since it features both motion controls and button-only controls, there's no excuse for not trying this one out. You can pre-order Skyward Sword HD in the Switch eShop now.

There’s been some rumors regarding a possible Nintendo Switch release of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword based on a little quote from Eiji Aonuma during a Legend of Zelda’s concert that took place this weekend in Osaka’s Orix Theatre. [Thanks, Gamestalk.]

Several attendees like @mizuirostregone live-tweeted events from the concert this weekend, including an exchange between Eiji Aonuma and the concert’s MC Yuu Shimamura who voiced Zelda in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and Breath of the Wild.

Shimamura said “It definitely makes you want to play Skyward Sword again! If only they released on Switch…” earlier in the concert. Several songs later, The Legend of Zelda series producer and manager Eiji Aonuma made an appearance on the stage for a talk session where Shimamura started by saying “I’d like to ask about secrets behind Breath of the Wild” to which Aonuma quipped “Are you sure you don’t want to ask about a Switch version of Skyward Sword?”

While it could’ve been a simple joke from Aonuma, it certainly turned some heads hearing it come from the series manager on an unrelated question during the big show. There wasn’t any kind of announcement regarding Skyward Sword heading to Switch during the concert, but Nintendo can definitely expect to hear some more fan demand.

Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma has once again touched upon some of the changes that Nintendo intend to make to the long-running series in games. Speaking with Mashable, Aonuma says that one such change is the make the games more “open”.

“I think the most open-world Zelda we've had so far has been Wind Waker, just because you were able to sail the ocean and go all over the islands,” Aonuma says. “When creating a game, we look at what is the core, kernel gameplay. You try to construct the game around that, and making that core mechanic the easiest to access.”

He elaborates: “For Skyward Sword, that kind of narrowed, focused world helped us with that, but at the same time it meant you didn't have that wide-open world to explore. We've heard the complaint about lack of openness from a lot of fans. As we're deciding what the core gameplay mechanic was, we have that open-world desire at the forefront of our minds, and we're trying to figure out how to incorporate that as well.”

Aonuma says he now has a better idea of what Zelda fans want out of the series, as a result of social media and the Zelda community on Miiverse. "I have a lot more access to what fans are saying and I interact with them more," he shares. "I think that's very important, and I also think that's something I want to do more of."

Finally, Aonuma briefly mentions what game he's been playing these days.

Monster Hunter 4,” he replies, when asked. “I was playing it in the lobby this morning. I play with three of my directors every day at lunch.”

It’s been about two years since Xenoblade developers Monolith Soft have opened a new studio in Kyoto to be closer to the Nintendo headquarters. During a recent creator’s interview at CG World, Monolith Soft shared how the new Kyoto studio has been working out thus far.

The Kyoto studio is located near the famous local junction of Shijoukarasuma, where the staff can look outside their windows to enjoy the summer festivities from the comfort of their office. Most of the employees in the Kyoto branch consist of artists with their average age being in the late twenties, and a high ratio of female staff .

In addition to the company’s own projects, the Kyoto studio has helped out with other Nintendo games, too, such as some of the graphics in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and more recently in Animal Crossing: New Leaf.

That may seem like a lot of work for a small studio consisting of about 30 , but the office atmosphere is reportedly very laid-back. The Kyoto studio’s work hours start at 9 am and end at 6 pm. Any overtime work is not accepted without  permission from superiors, but when employees do work overtime, they are paid for it, which is a rare occurrence in Japan.

Additionally, employees aren’t allowed to take any work home either, but they are allowed to use office tools and material for personal training purposes within the company until 9pm.

“One of the big opportunities that put the appointed weekly hours into action came from the 2006 occupational safety and  health act revision, which demanded a more thorough employee time management,” says director Yasuyuki Honne. He further shares his beliefs that development styles which anticipate overtime work have already reached their limit. With that in mind, Monolift Soft’s company motto, “Zero overtime and creative work allowed” is what they now go by.

As we previously reported late last year, Monolith Soft are still recruiting new to their Kyoto studio.

“We’re currently looking for people with the required skills of a CG artist, essential illustrative abilities and sense, along with great communicational skills,” mentions Honne, as they stress that game development isn’t all about fun, but that they would still like to have someone with a forward-looking attitude that can work in a lighthearted and fun manner.

In the creator’s interview, newer of the Monolith Soft Kyoto studio are asked about their thoughts on working there, along with how their schedule has benefitted them thus far.

Background designer, Subaru Genbe, who had previously worked with Square Enix is one of the new who ed Monolith Soft’s Kyoto office, last year. Genbe who has lived in Tokyo for a long while, has always been a fan of Monolith Soft and decided to change his job in order to be able to work with them and Nintendo.

“Playing and having fun is the most important part. It’s the key to bringing out the fun in graphics,” says Genbe, as he explains that those are the deep feelings they share at Nintendo, which he has learned since ing. According to the designer, he has also learned to put his time to better use, thanks to the results of the appointed weekly hours.

“When the work starts to overflow, the leader immediately reviews the schedule accordingly. I spend my weekends on hobbies and polishing my skills using ZBrush at home,” Genbe explains, addressing how the lenient schedule has been a great benefit, by providing him with free time to relax and brush up on his abilities as a designer.

Object designer Rika Aoki, who recently worked with Nintendo on Animal Crossing: New Leaf also spoke about the benefits of her work schedule with Monolith Soft.

“Not only have my skills grown as an artist, but I feel as if I’ve matured more as a person, as well. The appointed weekly hours allow me to work with a mental sense of stability,” explains Aoki, also mentioning that she loves being able to visit crowded areas that are nearby, and enjoys walks in Kyoto’s shopping districts on weekends.

More than half of the studio’s are from different areas outside the Kansai region, but in the short amount of time they’ve spent at Monolith Soft’s Kyoto studio, they’ve become tight-knit group who look forward to continue developing more titles for Nintendo while building the studio’s history, together, in their comfortable and productive environment.

Last year, Max Factory released Figma figurines of Link, Samus and Pit in Japan, which sold out relatively quickly. Now, it looks like the Link and Samus figures are making their way over to the U.S., as a store named Big Bad Toy Store lists both of them along with the following message:

Great News! We have just confirmed that the licensing issue that previously caused this item not to be released in the USA has been worked out. A new production run will be made and release is confirmed for the 4th Quarter 2013!

The Link figurine can be pre-ordered here, while Samus can be found here. Both figures cost $50 each. In addition to the two Figmas, the PVC statue of Samus in her Zero Suit is listed as well, can be found here for $100.

Pit, however, may not be coming over any time soon, as the Big Bad Toy Store only lists an import version of the Pit Figma, with no listing for a U.S. release.
