After the surprise announcement of the Okami sequel at The Game Awards 2024, Hideki Kamiya released a message for fans via the official social media for the game. Kamiya is set to return to directorial duties on the Capcom title as part of his new Clovers studio's first project.

While not containing any new information on the game itself, the message opened with Kamiya remarking that he honestly didn't think he'd get to continue the story of Okami himself. He went on to thank the development team at Clovers, in addition to all of the fans who have continued to the series long after its release. He finished by invoking Amaterasu's rising sun motif and stated that he and the team are ready to do their best while working on the Okami sequel.

The sequel was a surprise announcement at The Game Awards 2024 presentation, 18 years after the first game's original release on Playstation 2. Protagonist Amaterasu also appeared earlier this year as a Mazo Talisman in an update to Capcom's Kunitsu-Gami: path of the Goddess.

The Okami Sequel is currently in development at Clovers Studio under Director Hideki Kamiya, though the release date and target platforms are currently still unknown.

Near the end of the Game Awards 2024, a trailer for Naughty Dog’s newest title Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. Most of the trailer focuses on the story, with only a hint of the gameplay at the end of it.

In the trailer, we can see that it takes place in a future version of our world. Main character Jordan has a Porsche spaceship, for example. She is a bounty hunter chasing after a member of the Five Aces. However, she ends up stranded on the planet of Sempiria. No one has ever managed to communicate with the planet or leave it, meaning that Jordan has her cut out for her if she wants to escape. From the trailer, we can see that she uses a melee weapon that resembles a laser sword. It’s unknown if she’ll unlock more as the game goes on.

The game started development in 2020. Neil Druckmann directed it and Trent Reznor composed the score. This is an entirely new IP from Naughty Dog, which previously worked on The Last of Us, Crash Bandicoot, Jak and Daxter, and Uncharted.

As part of The Game Awards 2024, Capcom revealed the development an Okami sequel directed by original game director Hideki Kamiya. Additionally, the developer will head new Clovers Studio at Capcom when working on Okami 2.

The new trailer didn't show any gameplay. Instead, it was only a teaser of wolf goddess Amaterasu accompanied by the ink style of the original Okami title, with brushwork highlighting how the Celestial Paintbrush can change the world in the sequel just like in the original.

The original Okami was developed by Capcom’s Clover Studio and released on 2006 for the PlayStation 2. The game would later be ported for the Nintendo Wii, and would later get an HD port for the PS3. Most recently, the game came out for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on December 2017 and Nintendo Switch on August 2018.

As a reminder, an Okami collaboration appeared in Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess back in August 2024 that included Amaterasu in the new Capcom title.

The new Okami title is currently in development by Capcom's Clovers Studio. There is no release date for the game and target platforms have been revealed yet.

During the Game Awards 2024, a trailer for Sonic Racing Crossroads appeared, though there aren’t a lot of details about it yet. The trailer is more akin to a teaser, though we know what platforms it’ll come out on.

Here is the trailer for Sonic Racing Crossroads:

The trailer does not feature any in-game gameplay. It shows Shadow getting into a black-and-red race car before speeding off. Then, the logo appears.

While we didn’t get to see any actual gameplay, it’ll likely be similar to previous racing games in the Sonic franchise. Some other games include Team Sonic Racing and Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. All of these games not only featured letting you participate in car races as different characters from the Sonic franchise, but also included lots of obstacles and maps to spice up the competition. More information in the future will tell us what will differentiate Sonic Racing Crossroads from other Sonic racing games.

Sonic Racing Crossroads will come out for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC. We don't know when we'll get to see more about the game and learn about the types of vehicles and tracks we'll get to race on this time around.

During The Game Awards 2024, Nexon premiered a trailer for Dungeon & Fighter: Arad, an open world action-RPG with an anime art style. There are practically no details on the story or platforms so far, which had been teased before.

Here is the trailer for Dungeon & Fighter: Arad that highlighted some of the characters we'll meet and places we'll go when the game does debut.

The trailer shows a cast of colorful characters in what appears to be a fantasy setting. However, the characters were able to summon gliders that look like they’re sci-fi. The trailer doesn’t give a lot of information on who the characters actually are, such as what they’re doing or what jobs they have. After they leave the city, they leave to fight against monsters on the field.

This is the latest entry of the Dungeon & Fighter series, which premiered in 2005. It is one of the most-played and highest-grossing video games of all time. Though Dungeon & Fighter is a side-scrolling beat ‘em up, this new title is an open-world. So it’ll likely play and handle differently than the original title.

Dungeon & Fighter: Arad is in development. More information on its release window and platforms will appear later.

During The Game Awards 2024, Pocketpair announced the release date for the new Palworld: Feybreak update with a new, massive island. The new update brings the new region to the game on December 23, 2024.

The cinematic reveal trailer lasts roughly a minute and a half, and it offers a brief look at some of the gameplay in the new update at the end. This means we get to see quite a few new Pals and locales as well.

The new update was announced back in late November 2024 and Pocketpair confirmed that it would bring its "largest, harshest, and most mysterious new island" to the game sometime on December 2024, roughly 6 times the size of Sakurajima. Additionally, Palworld will receive a crossover with Terraria sometime in 2025. We don't know what kinds of Pals will appear. However, in past Terraria updates with other games like Moonstone Island, its signature slime monster ended up showing up.

Palworld is readily available in Early Access on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC. The new Palworld: Feybreak update will arrive on December 23, 2024. Pocketpair will also release a Mac version on February 27, 2025.

During the pre-show presentation for The Game Awards 2024, a world premiere trailer for Shadow Labyrinth appeared. While there isn’t a lot of information on the game as of yet, it seems to be an alternate and edgy take on a Pac-Man Metroidvania.

Here is the trailer for Shadow Labyrinth:

The trailer shows the playable character emerging from a pod while a Pac-Man like creature follows them around. It’s a Metroidvania in which you defeat enemies and bosses, as well as navigate in a side scroller environment. The goal is to survive the maze, as well as eat. In the trailer, we see the Pac-Man follower enter the player character’s body and consume enemies.

Most of the recent Pac-Man announcements had to do with merchandise, rather than a new game. For example, there are four new Casio watches available in Japan. Four appeared in this collection. Two were based on the actual arcade cabinets, while others had a more poppy aesthetic.

More information on Shadow Labyrinth will appear in the future. For now, we only know that it’ll come out some time in 2025 for the PS5, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC via Steam.

Geoff Knighley confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that his pal Hideo Kojima will be present at The Game Awards 2024. He stated that he wouldn’t miss it, since Kojima was present at the first awards ten years ago in 2014.

Hideo Kojima is a famous video game designer, best known for his work on Metal Gear and Metal Gear Solid. While at Konami, he established Kojima Productions. Following his departure from Konami due to a falling-out with the company, he founded Kojima Productions as an independent studio and then released Death Stranding in 2019.

This is not the first time that Kojima made a guest appearance at The Game Awards. In 2023, Hideo Kojima and Jordan Peele announced OD, which is a new project they’re working on together. While Kojima is a popular and influential figure in the gaming sphere, some aren’t too happy with the time he receives at The Game Awards.

The show usually runs for three to four hours. While it’s The Game Awards, it also doubles as a place for companies to show off trailers for new and titles. Due to the tight schedule of the program, winners of awards don’t get a lot of time to speak on stage, usually resulting in the staff or orchestra waving them off after a few words of thanks. However, during the 2023 presentation of OD, Peele and Kojima received almost six minutes of stage time simply discussing each other. Replies to Geoff’s Tweet announcing Kojima’s presence at The Game Awards 2024 also reference this moment, as well as Geoff’s own bias towards Kojima.

The Game Awards will stream on December 12, 2024 from 4:30 PM/7:30 PM ET.

Nominations for The Game Awards 2024 have been announced. Producer and host Geoff Keighley revealed the nominations for the 10th anniversary show via a short streamed video.

The big award is, of course, Game of the Year, which confirmed these six games as the nominees:

• Balatro
• Black Myth: Wukong
• Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree
• Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
• Metaphor: ReFantazio

All of these games received several nominations for the 2024 Game Awards, with Astro Bot and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth leading the way on seven nominations. Astro Bot was also nominated for Best Art Direction, Best Score, Best Audio, Best Action Adventure, Best Family and Best Game Direction. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth was also nominated for Best Performance (Briana White as Aerith), Best Score, Best Audio, Best Narrative, Best RPG and Best Game Direction.

Right behind them was Metaphor: ReFantazio, which received six nominations. As well as the Game of the Year, the game is nominated for Best Art Direction, Best Score, Best Narrative, Best RPG and Best Game Direction.

As well as these games, other big nominees at this year’s Game Awards include Silent Hill 2 Remake with five nominations and Hellblade 2, which has four.

The Game Awards 2024 ceremony will be streamed live in December 12, 2024. Baldur’s Gate 3 was last year’s Game of the Year winner.
