NPC Studio announced the latest Fields of Mistria update will appear in July 2025 and make some major changes to the romance system, including adding an option to become someone’s Best Friend. We’ll also be able to take love interests on dates once the patch goes out. There’s no exact date for its release yet, however.

Many of the biggest changes in the Fields of Mistria July 2025 update have to do with the romance options and additions for the love interests we meet. The new cap for relationships is eight hearts. The previous patches brought that up to six hearts. Once you do reach eight hearts with someone, such as someone like Caldarus, there will be an option to either make things romantic or become their best friend. The dating elements that will allow us to spend time with bachelors and bachelorettes will also come up. 

Some of the other additions are expected raising of top tiers. There will be Tier 4 and 5 Skill Perks, and the caps for those will go up to 60. Renown for the town will go up by five levels, which means new ways to repair after the earthquake and sidequests. There will also be a new festival, which hasn’t been named yet, and the Saturday Market will feature two more people to visit. No new mine biome was mentioned, but there will be changes to monsters and more drops.

NPC Studio announced a smaller patch for Fields of Mistria is now available, and it features some new furniture, new cosmetics for players’ animals and farmer, and some extra dialogue if you update to 0.13.3. As another important note, the company made sure to mention there is a new gift you can give Dozy the dog, as the character now “loves Dog Treats.” This is the first substantial patch since the major one in March 2025.

Some of the new items and changes you won’t see until you go to a Saturday Market, the Mines’ Lava Caves, or hit the second year. Merri is selling new Tabletop Clutter, for example. Nora’s Animal Festival Booth will stock items you can dress up livestock in. Hayden will sell a Pet Dish decorative item. Iceboxes and Potted Flowers are part of the Lovely Cottage collection. You can also get new level 71-90 Renown Rewards, or pick them up if you already ed those tiers. You can also find Lava Caves’ Fire Sage outfit parts. 

In of some notable NPC additions, Dozy isn’t the only one changed in the Fields of Mistria patch. In addition to him loving Dog Treats now, there are alterations to Celine and Caldarus. Celine now loves the Temple Flower you can find. Also, Caldarus will send you a letter on your birthday, and an issue with his heart level increasing ended up being fixed.

• Taking damage while catching an insect no longer causes the player to lose the insect.

• Animals can no longer spawn out of bounds on the expanded eastern farm plot.
• Pets will no longer work on rainy days if the player loads into the middle of a rainy day.
• Barns and Coops no longer have a rare chance of spawning without the Storage Chest. Note: For players who currently don’t have a chest in their Farm Buildings, destroying and rebuilding the building will fix the issue.
• Saving and loading back into the same file no longer causes the Request Board requests to refresh.

• Extra Legendary fish have been removed from players’ inventories. Note: If the player hasn’t donated the Legendary fish to the Museum, they will not be removed.

As part of the Fields of Mistria March 2025 update, people could choose a pet to live on their farm, and new trailer shows off what it’s like to get a cat. The video goes through the whole process, which also includes customization that lets you choose what the kitten will look like.

The trailer notes that this process begins with a “dream” that happens after the player goes to sleep one night. They will get to envision the animal first. There are then 12 cat and 12 dog options to choose from, each with different color schemes. After you choose one, you can name it and select its gender. It is also possible to select a randomized name. The pet cat then appears outside the house the next morning and walks right into the home to move in. 

Like other animals in Fields of Mistria, a cat has an affection and relationship gauge affected by petting it every day. You can also choose a “job” for it. In the video, the options for a kitten are to collect forageables, stone, or wood. Once you choose one of those options, you can see the animal in the wild “working.” When it arrives home each evening, it will share what it found. In this case, the video shows it returning with three stones.

NPC Studio often introduces Fields of Mistria features with short trailers. It’s how we saw Elsie’s gift advice ahead of that ability’s launch. A preview of the Animal Festival, which happens every winter in-game, came up too. The Lava Caves mine biome was shown off too.

NPC Studio shared yet another Fields of Mistria trailer focusing on the March major patch, and this one looks at the Animal Festival being added to the game. It will be a winter event that focuses on livestock. The video spends just over half a minute looking at different elements of it.

The Fields of Mistria Animal Festival trailer begins with a farmer being greeted by Hayden as they head into town to take part. We can see a pen with an alpaca, capybara, and sheep in it nearby. Further along, there are additional pens for other types of animals competing, like one for cows and another with a chicken and rabbit in it. Cutout standees are around for screenshots, and Celine is posed looking through one of them at one point. Nora is also manning one stand that looks like a coffee shop. 

The video then goes on to offer a hint as to how it works. If you go to one of the booths besides pens, you can select animals you own and enter them in the competition. Adeline will then eventually judge the different animals and declare the winner. At the end, we see a farmer indoors with a new trophy. There also seem to be cosmetic items that are stuffed animals based on the different types of livestock.

Each recent trailer for the game highlighted Fields of Mistria March 2025 patch updates. One showed how the new Elsie gift hints system will work. Another took us into the lava cave biome in the mines.

This will mark the third festival to appear in Fields of Mistria. The Spring Festival was in the game when it entered Early Access. The Shooting Star Festival was added in the first major patch in 2024.

Back when NPC Studio announced the major March 2025 patch for Fields of Mistria, it teased an Elsie gossip feature that would offer gift hints for love interests and characters. Now the developer took to social media for a more detailed explanation. A brief video shows exactly how the new feature works if you take advantage of it.

The teaser shows a farmer talking to Elsie in the gardens next to the home where she lives with Adeline and Eiland. Elsie shows portraits of three characters to choose from when you ask for advice. In this case, Celine, Josephine, and Hayden came up. These portraits also show their current affection levels and how many of the 20 possible gift ideas you’ve discovered. Celine is selected in the example. It then shows a screen with Loved and Liked gifts, and a new “liked” one is revealed due to the player’s selection.

Ahead of the new major patch for Fields of Mistria, we’ve seen quite a few trailers looking at features. For example, the mines dungeon is expanding with a new biome. So, NPC Studio showed how useful a watering can be when used on lava. It also highlighted the Animal Sprite Statue, which makes ranching a little easier. The initial patch notes also confirmed Caladrus will debut as a romance option.

The next major Fields of Mistria patch arrives on March 10, 2025, and NPC Studio shared a teaser trailer of the Lava Caves biome added to the mines and dungeon as part of the update. The footage on social media offers a peek at some of the monsters there, as well as shows how you can use tools to get around.

Prior to the Lava Caves biome of the Fields of Mistria mines, the only pieces of equipment we’d really need to use were the pickaxe and sword. Once you get into this region after breaking the seal to continue into the dungeon depths, you’ll also need to use your watering can. This is because there will be large expanses of lava that farmers can’t just jump over. To cross, you’ll need to use a watering can to create bridges between landmasses. 

The trailer shows how an upgraded watering can in Fields of Mistria can make it possible to cross safely. It also shows some of the types of slime monsters, ore outcrops, and bugs present along the way.

NPC Studio constantly shares video clips online highlighting new and old features in the farming sim. One of the last ones appeared earlier this week. It focused on the new Water Sprite Statue. This functions similar to a sprinkler in the Stardew Valley series, though you need to use an Essence Stone to water plants in a grid around the new item.

As part of Fields of Mistria's Second major update, NPC Studio announced that an all new feature will be arriving to the fantasy farming sim, the Animal Sprite Statue. In a post on Fields of Mistria's official X and BlueSky s, they posted a brief video summary of the way the item works.

The Animal Sprite Statue in Fields of Mistria is used with an Essence Stone and is placed inside barns and coops to keep every animal in the area happy which will make it no longer necessary to pet each animal individually to keep them content. However, the statue will not be permanent and will require a new Essence Stone every 5 days. Once players set up the Statue in their barn or coop and give it the necessary energy through the Essence Stones, all animals in the area will get the affection and happiness boost.

This is part of the next major update to Fields of Mistria, which is still in early access. On March 10, 2025 the second major update to the game will be released on Steam. The Fields of Mistria roap for the update includes the Animal Sprite Statue as the "Auto Petter" mechanic and numerous other features for the game, including new Villagers and dialogue, new Tier 4 skills, quests, dungeons and more.

The last major update was in November 2024 and brought similar updates, adding new events for the romanceable NPCs and all-new festivals in town. With the next update, Fields of Mistria will be gaining even more content for players dive into.

Fields of Mistria is currently in Early Access exclusively on Steam. The second major update will arrive on March 10, 2025.

Another major update to Fields of Mistria will appear through a new content update patch in March. More specifically, the Fields of Mistria update patch release date is set for March 10, 2025. Developer NPC Studio shared this information through a post on X, and revealed what will appear through this content update.

A short tease as to one of these updates accompanied the post on X. This being the reveal of Caldarus' "human" form. You can watch the short teaser trailer below.

Additionally, the official Fields of Mistria website shared a detailed list of all the new features and conte that will appear on March 10, 2025. This includes new spells, NPC dialogue and updated schedules, farmland expansion, and the addition of a sprinkler system.

NPC Studio issued an update on Fields of Mistria, saying there will be a big patch in March 2025 that adds the Caldarus romance, Deep Woods area, and pets. There will also be more to do in the mines, more repairs around town, and the ability to set up a Sprinkler.

The Caldarus romance is the first new element in the list of Fields of Mistria additions. The notes don’t mention if when he launches, he’ll also have all of his heart events up to 6 to bring him up to par with the other love interests as of the November 2024 update. While the dragon is currently present in-game via a statue that appears on your farm, he doesn't show up as an NPC. The message also noted that Elsie will be able to give hints about gifts to give to everyone in town, and there will be more dialogue for people.

When it comes to the Deep Woods, that will be among the new additions that comes up when you improve Mistria. Right now, that region is blocked off by thorns and inaccessible. The town will also hold a new type of festival, there will be a new quest to repair it, and there will be more Museum and Request Board tasks. 

The Mine area basically adds more floors. The Fire Seal can be fulfilled, and there will be a new Biome to reach. If you’ve been keeping up with tiers and unlocks, that also means new furniture to find in chests and critter and relic item sets for the museum. 

Finally, some of the additions like pets and sprinklers come up in the more miscellaneous additions and quality of life adjustments in the Fields of Mistria March 2025 update. Sprinklers will offer a new way to water. Pets will involve a new type of animal on the farm. There will also be an option to adjust the flow of time.

NPC Studio shared a new Fields of Mistria teaser video highlighting some of the new mounts we can ride after the November 18, 2024 update. Five animals total are showcased in the brief trailer.

The video begins with the protagonist walking past the inn in Mistria. Before the character reaches the general store, the player summons a mount. A unicorn then appears, and the we can see it being ridden down the city street.

After that, we see some of the different animals we’ll be able to rides as mounts in Fields of Mistria. While the first is the more unorthodox unicorn, others are ones we’re already familiar with in the game. First, there’s a pink cow. Then, there’s a white sheep. That’s followed by a purple alpaca and spotted horse. The clip ends by showing that someone could harvest crops while riding.

Here’s the full Fields of Mistria teaser for mounts. The announcement confirms you need to help Hayden with repairing his barn before it is available. 

This isn’t the only new addition. New heart events will appear for love interests. There will also be a Summer Festival.

Back when the major November 2024 Fields of Mistria update was announced, a new festival was teased, and now we know it is the Shooting Star Festival. This will be a Summer seasonal event, and the new details suggest it is also one with a special element for those pursuing one of the game’s love interests. 

NPC Studio shared a gift highlighting what to expect from the Shooting Star Festival in Fields of Mistria. The player character is in the town square talking to Eiland. He first brings up that the Shooting Star Festival is coming that month. He also mentions the age of the event, suggesting its been happening for centuries. As the announcement noted that we get to invite our love interest to watch shooting stars at the summit, Eiland also hints nobody ever asked him to do so. 

Here’s how that scene looks.

As the summit area is an overview that players need to unlock by ranking up the town and making progress, it seems like the Fields of Mistria Shooting Star Festival is one some people might not see in their first year. As such, those playing the early access build will either want to be prepared for next summer to roll around or work hard on building up the museum’s collections or assisting with mainline quests.

Cozy games are some of the best video games to play right now across all platforms. Whether it is a large budget experience like Animal Crossing: New Horizons or a smaller title like Moonstone Island, cozy games are the place to be. But what about the forgotten or misunderstood farming sims and cozy games? This is what we have to say about the most underrated farming sim and cozy game of all time.

Setting aside the (deserved) fan favorites like Stardew Valley, Animal Crossing, and Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town, more people need to check out Trio of Towns and Harvestella. Trio of Towns is up there as the best in its series for me, with such a diverse landscape to explore, varying economies, and so many excellent characters.

Meanwhile, Harvestella didn’t get nearly the attention it deserved. It truly feels like Final Fantasy-meets-Story of Seasons in all the right ways. It was rough around the edges, especially on the Switch performance-wise, but the mix of story, dungeon-crawling, job classes, and farming could easily pave the way for a fantastic sequel.

Finally, my last pick for this category is a much more recent entry. Ova Magica is an indie game that impressed me upon its release earlier this year. It certainly wears its inspirations on its sleeves, but I appreciate that. The charm of farming sim-meets-Pokemon works surprisingly well. Every aspect of the title, from the farming to romance to turn-based battles are terrific. It fares much better than other similar attempts to marry these genres in the past. It is only a shame it is in early access for now. The content is a bit too light at this time. -- Cody

I wasn't immediately intrigued by Fields of Mistria, but after playing it I was really impressed by how quickly and unobtrusively it established the character of its townspeople. I also second Harvestella. That story didn't quite go where I was expecting but I loved it and would love to see more iterations on its ideas. -- Elliot

NPC promised the first major Fields of Mistria update would appear in Q4 2024, and now the exact release date for the patch that adds new romance option content and town additions has been set. It will be available on November 18, 2024. The developer also shared a teaser gif of one of the inclusions coming alongside other new pieces of content.

Exact details about every new addition in the Fields of Mistria first major update aren’t available yet, but we do have an idea of what to expect in the patch. The first roap shared by the team featured a lot of hints about things to come. There will be 6 Heart events for all of the love interests, and the romance options in Fields of Mistria will have more to say. The gif seems to show one of these new moments. The other major changes seem to be coming to the Town, as there will be a new festival to take part in, more to do at the museum, more ways you can help by taking requests, and more renown rewards due to the renown cap being raised by 20. 

There are also additions coming to the mining elements, dungeon diving, skill system, and customization parts of Fields of Mistria. There will be more ways to update the home and add to it. You’ll be able to dress up your avatar and animals with new items. Some of those cosmetics will be tied to the new monsters we can encounter. We’ll get more perks and be able to level up skills higher.

NPC Studio announced that the 0.11.6 patch for Fields of Mistria is now live and, while major additions are still down the road, this one adds pronouns, new hair color options, more eye color options, and new recipes. The update also added three quality of life changes and fixed a number of bugs as well.

When it comes to selecting pronoun options in Fields of Mistria, there will be five more to choose from after the update. These are he/she, she/he, they/he, they/she, and it/its. The announcement also noted this was added as a result of a request from the community. 

Likewise, the new hair colors were also mentioned as a player-requested addition to Fields of Mistria. However, the new eye colors implemented are not. While NPC studio didn’t share a screenshot of the new eye colors in Fields of Mistria, it did show all of the hair colors applied to the Wavy Long Fringe style.

NPC Studio shared a summary of stats for all Fields of Mistria early access players between August 5, 2024 and September 5, 2024, and it confirmed that the number of s ed 250,000 and those who did pick it up played for 4,134,038 hours. The announcement also included a number of details going over what everyone did in spring of their first year in the game. Most notably, the insights suggest March is a popular Fields of Mistria character, based on number of gifts given to him.

Given the age of the game and the time going into it, NPC Studio only offered a brief summary of possible Spring Year 1 stats. Most interesting is the section going over gifts given to possible love interests. While it noted that 3,753,747 gifts total had been given in the first month Fields of Mistria was available, 910,916 of those went to March. March is the romanceable blacksmith who tends to like different types of core. 

Here are the full Fields of Mistria stats going over s, playtime, and stats like gifts given, crops harvested, bugs caught, fish caught, and money earned.

NPC Studio often uses the game’s social media to share updates on the game and insights into it that we might be unaware of. For example, it shared a gif going over how to assign a repeated tool use button in its controls menu. The first roap for patches appeared there as well. The next major update will appear at the end of 2024 and include new customization options, dungeon features, and heart events with love interests.

Fields of Mistria is in early access on Steam, and it is Steam Deck compatible. The full game is expected to release in 2025.
