An enhanced version of Kimi ga Nozomu Eien, or The Eternity You Desire, is now available on Steam. As of the time of writing, there’s a 10% sale.

This release marks the first time that Kimi ga Nozomu Eien is officially available in English since the game came out in 2001. As a note, it does contain some references to sexual content, which means that it may be inappropriate for younger players. As it’s based on the all-ages port though, there won’t be anything explicit. The game was supposed to come out earlier this month. However, aNCHOR delayed it around four times in order make necessary fixes and adjustments for rating review.

aNCHOR (formerly Age) first announced the enhanced edition back in August 2024. At the time, the release date was slated for October 17, 2024 before the aforementioned delays. The story does have a love triangle between the two main heroines and the male lead, though there are eight routes in total. Over time, it’s garnered a reputation for having a depressing story that’ll make the player cry. So it may not be the right game to play if you’re in the mood for a cheery or lighthearted romance.

Kimi ga Nozomu Eien is available in Japanese and English via Windows PC. You can purchase it through Steam.

Kimi ga Nozomu Eien: Enhanced Edition is still not available yet as of October 22, 2024, because it keeps getting delayed by rating review issues. aNCHOR has delayed the visual novel's release three times, and the latest announcement no longer included a definite release date.

aNCHOR originally planned to release Kimi ga Nozomu Eien on October 17, 2024 in the Americas' time zones, which was October 18, 2024 in the Japanese time zone. But right on the supposed release date, the company announced a one-day delay to noon JST on October 19, 2024. It cited necessary fixes and adjustments for the rating review.

The issues did not seem to get resolved in time, though. On October 19, 2024, aNCHOR announced that Kimi ga Nozomu Eien got delayed again to noon JST on October 22, 2024, for the same reason. And that brought us to the third delay announcement on the latter date, where aNCHOR also stopped giving a new estimated release date.

As a refresher, Kimi ga Nozomu Eien originally appeared as an adults-only visual novel for PCs in Japan in 2001. When Alchemist and Princess Soft ported the title to the Dreamcast and PlayStation 2 respectively in 2002 and 2003, they turned it into an all-ages rated game. The Enhanced Edition release on Steam will also be based on the all-ages version, although aNCHOR noted that it will contain some references to sexual content that may be inappropriate for younger players.

Muv-Luv is one of those games series where there’s one entry that is pretty close to being a masterpiece, but you do need to go through everything leading up to it to truly get the most out of it. Muv-Luv Alternative, which is available now on the Switch via a Remastered version, is that installment. Age tells a great story in it, to be sure, but it really becomes fantastic and ties everything together if you also went through Muv-Luv Extra and Unlimited as well.

Muv-Luv Alternative Remastered picks up where Unlimited left off. Takeru Shirogane finds himself in his room, but he is not back in his original “reality” from Extra. Rather, he still re everything that happened in the previous two games, but finds himself back at the beginning of the story as seen in Unlimited. However, since he has all of the experiences and knowledge from that life, he knows the dire fate that awaits him and the earth. Resolved to make a difference and use that knowledge to avoid the previous outcome, he heads directly to the UN 11th Force Yokohama base to reunite with Yuuko Kouzuki. After convincing her of who he is and what he experienced by sharing what he knows about the Alternative IV and V plans to deal with the BETA invasion, he once again is assigned to Unit 207 alongside Meiya Mitsurugi, Chizuru Sakaki, Kei Ayamine, Miki Tamase, and Mikoto Yoroi, working with them, Kasumi Yashiro, and other characters toward a better future.

Right from the outset, you can see how far Age and Muv-Luv has come in Muv-Luv Alternative Remastered’s earliest moments. A big part of this involves Takeru’s character development. To be honest, I wasn’t his biggest fan in Extra! He’s not the worst dating sim protagonist, but he’s definitely an immature kid. In Unlimited, I felt like he really grows on us. He starts as that same person as he was in the initial entry, but we see how his experiences with the BETA, heartbreak, and other stressors force him to grow up into someone more dependable and even irable. I suppose you could say his appearance here in Alternative is his final form. From the very start, he’s much more committed, mature, and resolved. Like I would trust him as a person. As a testament to Age’s writing and direction, I honestly felt proud of him, what he accomplished, and how he really has these good intentions to help the people he loves and the world. 

That care put into the script and character development also comes through in pretty much every other element of Muv-Luv Alternative Remastered, making the Switch release a pretty good time. (The localization remains pretty great, just like in the first parts.) Little plot points and threads that came up as far back as Extra are touched upon here, and I really appreciated the pay-off. Going through the three one after another on the system also meant I probably picked up more on them through these playthroughs, so I’d definitely recommend anyone else interested take that approach as well. While I feel like it’s most evident with certain characters, such as Meiya, Kasumi, and another person I won’t name, in general there’s a lot going on and people get quite a bit of attention.

Also, the story absolutely goes places. While previous games involved more influencing of the routes to varying degrees, that doesn’t happen in Muv-Luv Alternative Remastered. However, given what’s going on, it makes sense and feels more natural. Yes, you can still make choices and see some minor changes as a result. But in general, you’re working toward one specific ending. As a result, I felt like Age really got to go full-force into making it as impactful as possible. Given how connected folks may be to certain characters as a result of going through these harrowing situations for three games now and possibly romancing them in previous entries, there are absolute gut-wrenching and tearjerker parts. 

As with Muv-Luv Remastered, Muv-Luv Alternative Remastered also looks and runs wonderfully on the Switch. It still remains a dynamic visual novel, with character portraits and sprites appearing at different parts of the screen to show motion, extra positions and posing for greater emotional impact, and care put into CGs and other elements to amp up tension or capture action from different angles. It’s all handled quite well. It’s easy to play. I also felt it was fantastic in Handheld mode.

With Muv-Luv Alternative Remastered, Age tells such a striking and emotional story. The events of it stick with you, especially if you put in the time and went through every part of the adventure. The only downside to it all is that it really does demand that dedication. The pay-off is fantastic if you are willing to go through Extra and Unlimited first. I would still say it is a great story if you don’t, but the character development and hints leading up to what happens here builds in a great way and results in a fascinating sci-fi story.

Muv-Luv Alternative Remastered is available for the Nintendo Switch. It is also available on the Vita and PC worldwide and the PS3, Xbox 360, and mobile devices in Japan.

Getting into the Muv-Luv series is a commitment. One that’s certainly easier now than it was years ago when it was a Japan-exclusive series, for sure. But still. You need to be ready to get invested. Fortunately, the Muv-Luv Remastered Switch release really does feel like the best and easiest way to get into the series, as well as enjoy reading through Takeru, Sumika, and Meiya’s story.

Now, right away the Muv-Luv Remastered Switch release makes it easy to get into the adventure, as you get to make a choice immediately after starting. You can jump right into Muv-Luv Unlimited, rather than playing Extra first. You shouldn’t, but you can. Considering Extra is the weaker of the two stories, I don’t blame you if you just look up some details on characters and go with the second part first, but there is some important character development in the initial part.

With Muv-Luv Extra, you get to experience normal school life for Takeru Shirogane. He’s always been close to Sumika Kagami, his childhood friend. So close that, as his neighbor, she just comes in every day to his room to wake him up. However, one day he wakes up to find Meiya Mitsurugi in his room and bed. As you can imagine, this means a whole love triangle begins as Meiya insists she’s meant to marry Takeru and Sumika starts wondering about what she really wants. However, it isn’t just a love triangle, of course, as you can also choose to go for Chizuru, Miki, or Kei as you play.

Muv-Luv Extra in Remastered is, in general, fine Switch visual novel. It feels like a very typical dating sim. Characters can feel like they belong to established tropes like elegant rich girl or childhood best friend. Takeru is often an immature, perverted teenager, which may make it more difficult to connect with him at the start. The best part of it, especially in this remaster, comes down to the production values. Every character has multiple sprites. They’re moving around the screen and dynamic, to give a sense of motion and energy you might not typically experience in a visual novel. Even if the general concept might feel ordinary at the start, the extra effort put into those elements helps a lot.

Muv-Luv Unlimited is when the Remastered Switch release and series gets interesting. It begins with Takeru back at the first day of Muv-Luv Extra, except he finds he is in a whole different world and timeline. Here, the BETA aliens invaded and everyone fought back. Only his house is standing when he wakes up in bed. What’s left of humanity fights back in giant mechs and puts forth plans to try and salvage some sort of life for themselves. However, some of the people he knew and loved from the original adventure are back. It’s tone is quite different, given the sci-fi approach and “after the apocalypse” nature of things. However, there there is still a bit of a romance option to it, depending on your choices. It isn’t a dating sim in the same way Extra is, but you can earn endings with characters. 

In this Switch Remastered release, it’s basically Muv-Luv Unlimited that makes Extra worth playing. The differences between the characters we meet in the original storyline, then what they are like in the second part, help provide a better perspective of what’s going on and who they are. One informs the other, and it grants the player a better understanding and appreciation.

Likewise, Muv-Luv Unlimited is essentially a redemption for Takeru. There’s such personal growth and development as we see what this young man experiences. Getting to see what his life was like, what his new story entails, and how he reacts as a result is fascinating. It’s a sense of culminating maturity that we get to see carried forth even further. There’s not the genuine pay-off for everything yet. (That’s saved for Muv-Luv Alternative!) However, there’s still something there.

Also, as expected, the production qualities in Muv-Luv Unlimited in Remastered on the Switch remain as high as in Extra. The game looks great on the system. It’s especially fun in handheld mode. The perspective and resolution looks good. The displays are dynamic. It’s easy to make quick saves, jump around to past text, and keep track of everything going on. The audio quality is also quite good, which gets to be important as the drama ramps up in the second part of the story.

When it comes to the Muv-Luv series, you’re basically committing to a three-game experience when you start it. Muv-Luv Remastered, as a whole, sets up a foundation for one of the most intriguing visual novels to come out of Japan. This means that what you’re experiencing is happening for a reason. Muv-Luv Extra might feel a bit trope-heavy and as though the dynamic nature of character portraits and movements are the only thing setting it apart, due to it laying groundwork regarding characters. Muv-Luv Unlimited is when it starts getting interesting and we get into the meat of things, due to the new mysteries being introduced and way what we learned in the first game shapes the lives of characters like Takeru and Meiya. Put together in one package with Muv-Luv Remastered, and we get a solid start to Age’s story.

Anchor announced a new strategy game called Muv-Luv Tactics. At the moment, ahead of crowdfunding, some initial images, a teaser trailer, a Discord server, and a social media opened.

It seems Muv-Luv Tactics will be set in the series’ universe and involve players using the Senjutsuki Tactical Surface Fighter mechs to fight BETA. A few pieces of initial art also appeared showing some of the TSF units that will apparently appear in the game. One of them is the Type-00 Takemikazuchi 00R model used by Meiya Mitsurugi in the Muv-Luv series. Another looks like the EF-2000 Typhon, in particular the Zerberus model. The last one was the F-22A Raptor.

The initial teaser video also features looks at those same three TSF mechs. That video begins with the Typhon, before moving on to the Takemikazuchi and Raptor.

The last mainline Muv-Luv releases involved the original games debuting on the Nintendo Switch. People could pick up Muv-Luv Remastered, which included Extra and Unlimited, and Muv-Luv Alternative Remastered. They are available individually or bundled together.

Muv-Luv Tactics is in development, and a crowdfunding campaign is planned. The original Muv-Luv games are available worldwide on the Switch, Vita, and PC. The anime is streaming on Crunchyroll.

Kimi ga Nozomu Eien (The Eternity You Desire), the visual novel Age released before the Muv Luv series, will be released on PCs worldwide in Japanese and English. This Enhanced Edition will debut on Steam on October 17, 2024. 

The Kimi ga Nozomu Eien: Enhanced Edition will be an all-ages release with voice acting from the 2008 Latest Edition released in Japan. It also has a “retelling of Chapter 1” and three additional after stories. It begins with a young man named Takayuki meeting Haruka, via Mitsuki, and developing an initial relationship with her. While there is the love triangle element with the three of them, there are also other heroines to romance as well. 

It’s possible someone might know the Kimi ga Nozomu Eien story without playing the game, due to the anime based on it appearing outside of Japan. It was originally handled by Funimation outside of Japan, and it is currently streaming on Crunchyroll. It also appeared physically worldwide, though that release is now out of print.

Kimi ga Nozomu Eien: Enhanced Edition will appear in Japanese and English worldwide on PCs on October 17, 2024. The game is available in Japan on the Dreamcast and PS2 as well.

Back in December 2023, we learned that Muv-Luv Remastered and Muv-Luv Alternative Remastered would come to the Nintendo Switch in Japan in March 2024. Now, we know they’ll head to the eShop outside Japan both individually and in a double pack together on July 11, 2024.

Depending on the version or bundle, the price changes. The original Muv-Luv Remastered is $29.99. However, at launch it is $26.99. Muv-Luv Alternative is slightly more expensive, as it costs $39.99. A launch discount drops that price to $35.99. Buying the two games together at once is slightly cheaper, as that double pack is $64.99. The launch sale makes the pair $58.49. 

The original Muv-Luv is a fairly typical visual novel with romance elements and starts off mostly normal enough. Takeru is going through his normal life, when a young woman named Meiya shows up and moves in with him and starts attending his school. He essentially ends up split between her and his childhood friend Sumika. 

However, in Muv-Luv Alternative things drastically change. He wakes up one day to find himself in a version of the world where aliens are invading, and the friends and love interests he re from the original game are all working to fight against them. This installment ended up also inspiring an anime adaptation, which is streaming on Crunchyroll as of time of writing.

Muv-Luv Remastered and Muv-Luv Alternative Remastered will come to the Nintendo Switch on July 11, 2024 worldwide, following a Japanese release in March 2024. The games are also on the PlayStation Vita and PC worldwide, as well as the PS3, Xbox 360, and mobile devices in Japan. Project Mikhail: A Muv-Luv War Story is on PCs, but its Switch version hasn’t appeared.

Good news to the players who played the now-defunct Immortals: Muv-Luv Alternative – the game will re-launch in Spring 2023. It originally came out in March 2022 before shutting down almost immediately due to bugs that made the game unplayable. The re-launched version of the game will be one that improves on the base of the original. [Thanks, KaroshiMyriad!]

According to the announcement on the Immortals: Muv-Luv Alternative website, the development team will work with NextNinja to publish the title. NextNinja has worked on mobile titles such as Grand Summoners, Touhou LostWord, and and Warau Arsnotoria. As the new game will essentially be an upgraded version of the original, it'll count as a new release.

When the title originally came out, it was only available for a short period of time before critical issues forced the developers to shut down the game. Originally, the shutdown was only supposed to last for about a month. aNCHOR did not officially specify the exact nature of the issues, nor explain the decision to extend the shutdown. Commentary from the time suggests that one issue may have been related to an exploit that allowed players to earn unlimited amounts of currency.

Immortals: Muv-Luv Alternative will come out on iOS and Android mobile devices. It will be an action RPG with characters from the Muv-Luv series making an appearance.

A total eclipse is coming in just under a month's time. More specifically, visual novel Muv-Luv Alternative Total Eclipse is landing on PC. The announcement comes courtesy of aNCHOR, which developed this version of the game. Formally titled Muv-Luv Alternative Total Eclipse Remastered, the game lands on July 20, 2022. This will be the first time Total Eclipse is made officially available in English.

Muv-Luv Alternative Total Eclipse Remastered is an enhanced rerelease of the titular spin-off, which is based on the world and storyline of Age's Muv-Luv series. Though typically framed as a trilogy, Muv-Luv's three story arcs: Extra, Unlimited, and Alternative are more like counterparts to each other rather than direct continuations. Extra is framed as a romantic comedy, with protagonist Takeru struggling to choose between the women in his life. Unlimited throws Takeru into an alternate timeline from Extra, where Earth is at war with mysterious aliens called the BETA. There he s the military and pilots a Tactical Surface Fighter (TSF) mecha against the invaders. Alternative is a sequel of sorts to Unlimited, involving time travel.

Muv-Luv Alternative Total Eclipse was originally a novel series, but it received an anime adaptation in 2012 and a visual novel adaptation in 2013 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The visual novel was then remastered for this release on PC. It tells a standalone story, focusing on different characters and a different perspective of humanity's war against the BETA. Written by series creator Yoshimune Kouki, the story takes place in Project Prominence, a TSF development initiative based in Alaska. It's centered around Yuuya Bridges, a hotshot test pilot who is reassigned to Argus Flight, a t American/Japanese team. The team is tasked with building and testing a new next-generation TSF for Japan. However, personality clashes within the team, particularly between Yuuya and his superior, Yui Takamura, turn the atmosphere tense.

Muv-Luv Alternative Total Eclipse Remastered launches on PC via Steam on July 20, 2022. A free-to-play mobile spin-off called Immortals: Muv-Luv Alternative launched in Japan on March 17, 2022. aNCHOR has finalized the release date for Immortals: Muv-Luv Alternative. It will release the free-to-play mobile action RPG in Japan on March 17, 2022.

Immortals will feature many people from the entire Muv-Luv universe. The game will not only feature characters from the mainline titles like Takeru Shirogane and Meiya Mitsurugi. It will also include characters from other spin-offs and related titles, such as Yui Takamura from Total Eclipse and The Euro Front's Ilfriede von Feulner.

All players who start playing Immortals: Muv-Luv Alternative during its launch period will receive Mikoto Yoroi as an SR-grade character. If the game reaches 50,000 pre-registrations by the launch day, aNCHOR will add the TSF-Type00A Takemikazuchi as an additional bonus.

aNCHOR initially revealed this game as Project Immortal in December 2019. A Japanese Muv-Luv fan published the self-made project on Twitter, but it became official after the series author Yoshimune Kouki noticed it. In October 2021, the publisher originally announced February 2022 as a release window for the mobile game. However, it later pushed back the release window to mid-March 2022. The game's developers needed more time to fine-tune the game's features before its official release.

Immortals: Muv-Luv Alternative will be available for Android and iOS mobile devices in Japan with a release date of March 17, 2022.

Following a delay, Immortals: Muv-Luv Alternative will release in mid-March 2022. Originally scheduled to release in February 2022, the developers wanted to fine-tune various features within the mobile title. The title was officially announced in October 2021. That's when people also got a first look at its gameplay. Immortals: Muv-Luv Alternative is an action-RPG. It will feature several popular characters from the Muv-Luv series, such as Meiya Mitsurugi, Chizuru Sakaki, and Marimo Jingugi. However, each of these characters got something of a visual update for this entry. The official website features full illustrations of their new designs.

Players will be able create their own teams and select stages to complete missions. Each stage will have a plethora of enemies the player will need to destroy. Characters will also have unique skills that they can activate. While using a special skill, a cut-in of the character will appear before they unleash their unique attack.

Immortals: Muv-Luv Alternative will release for Android and iOS devices in Japan sometime in March 2022. Pre-registration for the title is immediately available. In addition, s will receive a Mikoto Yoroi SR unit as a commemorative gift once the game releases.

aNCHOR has launched Project Mikhail: A Muv-Luv War Story as an Early Access game on Steam. The game is available worldwide with a discounted, launch week price tag of $17.99 in the U.S.

Project Mikhail is an action game where players pilot Tactical Surface Fighters to destroy alien invaders called BETA. Players can also customize their mechs by equipping and mixing parts obtained from destroying BETAs. The game will have three modes available: Story, PvP, and Frontier.

In the Story Mode, the player assumes the role of Takeru, the protagonist of Muv-Luv Alternative. The story will also have multiple choices that eventually determine its ending. The PvP Mode allows up to eight players to fight each other in two teams of four units. The Frontier Mode features an online interactive world that tasks all players to cooperate in liberating areas from BETA dominances.

aNCHOR initially planned to release Project Mikhail on Nintendo Switch and PC. However, it delayed the Switch release until the developers can assure that the game's quality is up to standard. On the Steam page, the company stated that it does not know how long the game will stay in Early Access. While the Story mode is pretty much complete, the PvP and Frontier modes are still in a beta state. aNCHOR is accepting for the game on its Discord channel.

Project Mikhail: A Muv-Luv War Story is now available on PC via Steam Early Access. aNCHOR has plans to release it on the Nintendo Switch.

aNCHOR has announced through a Producer Letter YouTube video that the Nintendo Switch version of Muv-Luv Project Mikhail has been delayed. In the YouTube video Sho Hamanaga, Producer of Muv-Luv Project Mikhail, states that the quality of the game is currently not up to standard. However, Muv-Luv Project Mikhail will release for PC in October, but it will arrive in early access.

In the video, Hamanaga shares that while development is progressing, the title is currently not ready for a full release. Additionally, he states that releasing the title in early access for PC will help development potentially progress faster. This will allow them to create the title with player . Once the game is complete, then the full version of will arrive on the Nintendo Switch.

Muv-Luv Project Mikhail originally had a September release date, but was eventually pushed back. Previous information about the title revealed that it would not feature any gacha related elements. Additionally, a Q&A segment during a livestream in May 2021 revealed several gameplay features. This included a look at how combat will function in the title.

People will get to experience even more of the Muv-Luv storyline. aNCHOR announced that it will release Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse in English in Winter 2021. This is a visual novel prequel to the events of Muv-Luv Alternative. It will not require people to own any other Muv-Luv games to play.

In Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse, people follow people like Yuuya Bridges and Yui Takamura, two people training to pilot mechs at Yukon Base. Different representatives are coming together as part of the XFJ Program between America and Japan to help fight back against the Beings of Extra Terrestrial origin (BETA).

The Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse visual novel game is only one of many ways to experience this story. People could read through it via either a light novel or manga adaptation. There’s also an anime adaptation, which is immediately available via Crunchyroll. Sentai released physical copies, with an English dub, of it.

An English version of Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse will appear on PCs outside Japan in Winter 2021. It is available on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC in Japan. The original Muv-Luv Alternative is available worldwide on the PlayStation Vita and PC and is also on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in Japan.
